May 28, 2009

Dear Reader,

My name is Alex Janesick and I am one of two interns that will be working with ICCF for the summer semester.  I am double majoring in history and political science at UCF.  I look forward to a fun and interesting semester here and am happy to be a part of this ongoing effort to promote knowledge and understanding.

This is my third day here and so far I have worked on a few different project proposals as well as updating membership information.  We are expecting a group next week, which will be focusing on responsible government.  Joe, Mr. Stewart and I will be accompanying them to a variety of meetings and activities early next week.  We’ll keep you updated as things progress.

I am Joe I will be interning for the ICCF this summer.  I am political science major at UCF, and am currently a junior.  This seems like it will be a lot of fun and I am excited to be a part of this program.  Next week we have a group coming in from Mozambique, Ghana, Brazil, Montenegro, and the Slovak Republic.  I am looking forward to showing them around the UCF campus on Monday.

Indonesia and June Social

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

We were very grateful to have Ms. Diah Mayarani of the Java Central Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia with us May 13-17.

Diah’s job is much like that of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. They manage over 70 sub chambers and also under that another 40 or 50.

We spent some time with Darden Restaurants: Doug Wentz, Patty DeYoung, and many others.
The Alliance: Shirley Walker
UCF: Experiential Learning
Dick Batchelor
Commissioner Brenda Carey
and Mark Shamley

The meetings were good and Diah enjoyed everything but mostly the experience to meet and talk with our local resources.

Coming up in June is the Social and we will have visitors from 7 different countries: Ghana, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mozambique, Montenegro, and Brazil. it will be at the Sheraton Orlando North in Maitland.

look forward to summer!
